Revised outage schedule for Cheyenne, Yellowstone, Geyser and Caldera

The scheduled outages previously announced for the Cheyenne, Yellowstone, Geyser, and Caldera clusters have been revised to a significantly shorter time period. In the updated schedule the systems will be unavailable from 8 a.m. MDT on Tuesday, October 31, until 6 p.m. MDT Friday, November 3.  

The outage will allow CISL staff to install new storage hardware components and perform operating system upgrades.

Users will be unable to log in during the outage period. System reservations will be put in place on batch jobs before the outage begins. After the reservations are in place, jobs that are submitted with specified job times that overlap the reservation period will remain on hold until the systems are restored to service. Running jobs that have not finished when the outage begins will be killed and will need to be resubmitted after service is restored. CISL will inform users through the Notifier service when the systems are returned to production.
