Cheyenne login nodes stabilized

March 25, 2020

CISL staff completed the last of several changes to the Cheyenne login nodes shortly before 9 p.m. MDT on Monday. The work required several brief periods when the login nodes were unavailable to users.

The changes were made to stabilize the login nodes’ communications to the GLADE file system. Before the changes, the login nodes communicated to GLADE over high-speed Ethernet. They now communicate to GLADE over the system’s InfiniBand fabric, which is expected to be much more reliable.

CISL asks users to continue to report any further issues such as bus errors, stale file handles, and killed login sessions. We apologize for the recent disruptions and thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we worked through the issues.
